Atlas Orthogonal Upper Cervical Chiropractic is a gentle and specific method for adjusting joint dysfunction at the craniocervical junction or CCJ.  The CCJ is comprised of 3 bones: the occiput or base of the skull, the atlas which is a ring-like bone that surrounds your spinal cord, and the axis.  The Cranio-Cervical Junction is one of the most complex joints in the human body.  It is also the physiological and mechanical connection between the brain and rest of the body.  The integrity of the CCJ is absolutely vital for the optimal expression of life.  The first cervical vertebrae, the atlas, is the keystone of the CCJ and makes a direct mechanical connection with the base of the skull.  The atlas also provides a passage for the brainstem and spinal cord, cerebrospinal arteries and veins,  and many delicate nerves.  Abnormal motion or position of the atlas vertebrae or Vertebral Subluxation can lead to a myriad of health problems including headaches, migraines, vertigo/dizziness, neck and back pain and stiffness, muscle pain and stiffness, poor balance, TMJ dysfunction, and loss of proper muscular activation and neuromotor control.  Vertebral Subluxation of the atlas is often caused by whiplash, head injuries, concussions, contact sports, poor posture, falls, and the daily structural stress of living in a gravity environment.    For over 40 years, millions of people have benefited from the Atlas Orthogonal spinal adjustment and it has become highly regarded among Neurologists, Medical Doctors, TMJ specialists, and the public as a safe, gentle, and effective method to restore proper motion and position of the atlas vertebrae, improve the integrity of the craniocervical junction, and optimize the expression of life.
